Educational Foundation
The Phi Delta Kappa Educational Foundation has been making a difference in the lives of educators and students since 1966. At that time George H. Reavis, a distinguished Ohio educator and longtime Kappan, provided the initial endowment of $500,000 thus establishing the Foundation. Reavis envisioned the Foundation as contributing to a better understanding of the nature of the educative process and the relation of education to human values. Since that initial investment, the Foundation worth has grown to more than $8 million, and the Foundation’s governing board now guides the use of funds for numerous programs including scholarships, Future Educators Association, publications, professional development, educational travel, and the PDK/Gallup Poll.
