Forums on the Public Schools
The purpose of the forums is to begin a discussion that will result in the improvement of the public schools. They are intended to encourage people at the community level to consider three fundamental questions related to educational purposes, measuring effectiveness, and changes necessary to achieve excellence in the schools; to discuss these issues thoughtfully in a small group setting; and to try to reach agreement with other participants about the precise nature of these issues. The forums close with a group discussion focusing on the question "Where do we go from here?" The intent of this discussion is to guarantee that action is taken relative to the ideas generated in the forum.
The free materials below are designed to aid individual schools, districts, community groups, and PDK chapters in conducting forums on the public schools.
