Emerging Leaders
The Phi Delta Kappa Emerging Leader program recognizes top educators from across the world for their leadership, particularly related to PDK's tenets of service, research, and leadership. The award winners are selected from a competitive class of applicants based on their outstanding professional accomplishments.
Eligibility and Application Process
Any PDK member in good standing who is age 40 or younger at the time of application is eligible to submit an application, which will be reviewed by a panel of past Emerging Leaders.
The 2010-2011 call for applications will be open in early 2010. The application requires responses to a general information form and short-answer questions. Applicants must also submit a curriculum vita and three letters of recommendation that support the responses to the short-answer questions.
Emerging Leader Honors
The 2009-2010 Class of Emerging Leaders will be honored at the 2009 PDK Summit in Indianapolis, Indiana. Opportunities for involvement at the summit will be communicated to the winners, who will receive a travel stipend to attend. The honor also includes the opportunity to be published by PDK. Additional honors and recognition, as well as invitations to participate in other PDK initiatives, will be available as a result of this recognition.
Eve Proffitt Emerging Leaders Project Grant
The Eve Proffitt Emerging Leaders Project Grant will provide up to $2,500 to support a special project or oversee an experience that emphasizes PDK’s three tenets: leadership, research, and service. PDK Emerging Leaders are eligible to apply within five years of receiving that designation.
Grant applications will be available in June 2010. Read about the 2009 grant recipient and her project here.
