Suggestions for Anniversary Activities
The ideas below are a starting point
— to help chapters develop special programs during the anniversary year,
— to generate interest in chapter activities, and
— to "make a difference" for education.
- Select a special theme for the anniversary year and build programs around that theme.
- Plan an anniversary or founders' day event on the installation date or beginning or end of the year.
- Set anniversary goals for membership recruitment and renewals — initiate and/or reinstate 25 (50, 75) outstanding educators
- Hold special recognitions at each meeting during the year to honor, for example:
- charters members
- past presidents
- new members
- emeritus and senior members
- 10-, 25-, and 50-year members
- outstanding educators and supporters of education
- scholarship and award recipients
- Sponsor a member's attendance at the PDK Summit
- Develop and print a chapter history
- Publish chapter or PDK historical items in the chapter newsletter or website
- Name and recognize 25 (50, 75) outstanding educators in the community
- Name and recognize 25 (50, 75) outstanding high school seniors who plan to be educators
- Present a $250 ($500, $750) scholarship, graduate grant, or teacher project grant
- Make a special gift to the PDK Educational Foundation
- Publish a feature article on the chapter and PDK in the local newspaper
- Submit a regional project proposal
