Governance Structure
The governing body of the association is the International Board. Officers of the Board are elected by the professional membership of the association and consist of the president, president-elect, immediate past president, and regional representatives. Up to three at-large representatives may be appointed by the Board. The Board meets three times a year, generally January/February and June/July and October. Minutes of the meetings are posted on the website. Log in to our website to view the minutes.
The association is divided into nine geographic regions led by elected regional representatives. Each region has approximately the same number of members. Regions are composed of chapters and elected officers who act to further the mission of the association. Chapters are college, university, and community based and offer meetings, newsletters, social events, and other services that keep members current on the local issues in education.
A network of elected chapter/member liaisons serve as the communication and support link between regional representatives, chapter officers, and members. The number of chapter/member liaisons that are necessary to support the region is determined by the regional representative. |
