R. Gerald Melton Scholarship Fund

The R. Gerald Melton Fund awards scholarships to outstanding doctoral students who are enrolled in a certified doctoral program, have a grade point average in the top 15%, show evidence of professional activities to improve and sustain student performance, and are planning careers in education administration.

Dr. R. Gerald Melton was the co-founder of the International Curriculum Management Audit Center, in 1988, and he was one of the founding partners of the PDK International affiliate organization — Curriculum Management Systems, Inc. Jerry, as he was known to his friends, passed away in 2002, leaving a remarkable legacy of creative and beneficial educational development.

Dr. Melton was born and educated in Missouri. His career in education spanned nearly 40 years as a teacher, coach, school administrator, Director of the National Academy for School Administrators, and president of Mountain Bear Associates, Inc.

Dr. Melton's contributions to Phi Delta Kappa and teaching and learning are a testimony of selfless service and leadership. His life of service has been commemorated with this scholarship for worthy doctoral students studying educational administration. An application is available from PDK International. Recipients are selected by a committee from Curriculum Management Systems, Inc. (CMSi).
