Program Eligibility
Public and private libraries, schools, colleges, universities, and other entities (such as teacher centers, governmental collections, foundations, etc.) that maintain collections of educational resource materials that are accessible to students and educators may apply for RERAP assistance. The program accepts applications from institutions worldwide. Applications from individuals cannot be considered.
Applicants must demonstrate 1) that donated publications are needed and will be used in a manner consistent with the goals of the Educational Foundation and 2) that the donated publications will match the educational needs of the applying institution.
RERAP assistance is targeted to institutions that clearly articulate a need for donated publications in order to develop their education library. Applications are processed year-round and prioritized on the basis of need. The program serves as many institutions as possible within its budget. Normally, the number of institutional recipients will range between 1,000 and 2,000 each year.
Applications also are evaluated to determine that the donated publications will match the educational needs of the institution. RERAP provides only professional books for educators. (See samples.) A library seeking to build its collection of fiction books for young readers, for example, would not be a good match. Also, all donated publications are in English. Institutions seeking works in other languages are encouraged to seek out other programs of assistance.
