The McGinnis-Lucas Scholarship
George R. McGinnis, a longtime and life member of PDK International, endowed this scholarship in honor and memory of his daughter, Deborah McGinnis-Lucas. This scholarship is being established through the PDK Educational Foundation to benefit his alma mater, Adrian College in Adrian, Michigan. The scholarship will be available to students in education and the sciences.
George became a member of PDK in 1965 at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He is presently a member of the East Ventura County chapter in Thousand Oaks, California.
His daughter, Deborah, was very active in community and civic affairs in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area of Minnesota. She was also active in drama and The Junior Civic Theater since her elementary years in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She attended Comstock High School in Kalamazoo. The family later moved to Big Rapids, Michigan, where she graduated in 1973 as an honor student.
One of her greatest accomplishments was being voted runner up Homecoming Queen by her classmates during her senior year at Big Rapids High School. Deborah touched the hearts of many during her short lifetime.
