Systems Factors: Governance, Leadership, and Support Services
This three and one-half day training program is designed to prepare senior administrators to examine and evaluate system-based issues in order to optimize the delivery of effective teaching and learning. It addresses the following topics:
- Overview of the Audit Premises and Standards
- Internal Review and External Audit
- Policy (Standard 1)
- Board/Superintendent/ Management/Staff Relationships (Standard 1)
- Organizational Structure (Standard 1)
- Planning and Change (Standard 1/5)
- Budget and Goal Priorities (Standard 5)
- Support Services (Standard 5)
Training Schedule
Day 1 (8:30 am - 4 pm)
Policy
establishing a rationale for quality curriculum management policies
using audit criteria for policy analysis
Day 2 (8:30 am - 4 pm)
Board/Superintendent/ Management/Staff Relationships
- distinguishing roles
- establishing relationships
Organizational Structure
- designing an organization table using audit criteria
- determining components of job descriptions using audit criteria
Day 3 (8:30 am - 4 pm)
Planning and Change
- establishing a planning approach
- using audit criteria for plan development
- planning major change interventions
- integrating staff development into plans for change
Budget and Goal Priorities
- using performance driven budgeting
- establishing the relationship between planning and budgeting
Day 4 (8:30 am - noon)
Support Services
- developing long range planning expectations
- using audit criteria to critique facilities
- establishing service design and delivery evaluation approaches
Registration Details
Time: Monday through Wednesday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to noon. Evenings are reserved for individual and team work.
Registration Fee: $795 per person per program. Includes instruction, materials, continental breakfast, and break refreshments. Team rates do not apply.
Cancellation Policy: Cancellation fee is $100. Cancellations must be received in writing seven working days before the start of the program. Any cancellation less than seven days will be refunded at 50% of the registration fee. Registrants who fail to appear at the training will forfeit all of the registration fee. Someone can substitute for you at any time.
Registration Deadline: The registration deadline is two weeks prior to the training date. Advanced registration is required and will be limited.
Travel and Lodging: Participants are responsible for securing and paying for their own transportation and lodging. If you are planning to purchase a nonrefundable airline ticket, please contact us before purchase to confirm that the institute will take place.
Graduate Credit: Phi Delta Kappa International and Indiana University School of Education provide an opportunity for institute participants to receive up to three hours of graduate credit. This is separate from, and in addition to, the registration fee.
