The range of material and resources available on the World
Wide Web has made technology itself, in all its forms, a topic
of considerable interest to teachers and professors alike. The
following list of resources was prepared for university faculty
members but can prove equally valuable to teachers in K-12 schools.
LEARNING TECHNOLOGY WEBSITES

Created by the Association for the Advancement of Computing in
Education (AACE), this site is designed for those with an interest
in advancing knowledge and learning with information technology
worldwide.

AskEric (Educational Technology) provides a directory
of educational technology sites and is maintained by the U.S.
Department of Education.

The edtechnot.com site was created by Forde Multimedia Consulting
to encourage debate on the merits and pitfalls of using educational
technology in real schools. Expert commentators include such "mavens"
as Bonnie Bracey, Larry Cuban, Jamie McKenzie, Alan November,
and Seymour Papert.

free and to use them in any website or publication, personal or
commercial. There is no royalty, use fee, or cost of any kind.

(URLs) for use in lessons. The resource list remains visible at

Source is a peer-reviewed bimonthly periodical. It provides

The Multimedia Educational Resource for Learning and Online Teaching
(MERLOT) offers a continually growing collection of online learning
materials, peer reviews, and assignments. MERLOT helps faculty
members enhance instruction.

Writing for the Web, part of the Global Development Network (GDNet),
is a site that focuses on the differences between communication
on paper and online. It examines the ways people use the Web and
considers the implications for the writing and content delivery

TEACHING AND LEARNING ENGLISH

The National Research Center on English Learning & Achievement
(CELA), which is affiliated with the Albany Institute for Research
in Education, State University of New York at Albany, is the only
national R & D center funded by OERI (Office of Educational
Research and Improvement) to conduct research dedicated to gaining
knowledge to improve students' English and literacy achievement
in schools across America. It makes available at no charge research
reports, newsletters, and other research-to-practice information,
much of which is designed specifically for practitioners. -- Janet
