FOR MEMBERS AND SUBSCRIBERS
How do I find online articles from the current issue?
After you log in, click on the e-Kappan option from the list available on the log-in page. You will be given a choice of issues -- select the most recent. This selection will take you to the table of contents. Click on any of the articles to download a free pdf file of the complete text of the article. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view the pdf files. You can manage how your browser handles pdf files by selecting preferences/navigator/downloads (Netscape) or preferences/receiving files/downloads (Explorer).
Do I need any special
software to listen to the audio articles?
You will need a
recent version of MP3 player software such as Windows Media Player,
RealPlayer, or QuickTime. Links to download free software are
available on the audio Kappan page.
Do I need any special
software to view the pdf and text files that I download?
You will need Adobe
Acrobat Reader to view the pdf files. You will need word-processing
software such as Microsoft Word, WordPerfect, or SimpleText to
view text files. See
further information about downloading and viewing pdf and text
files.
Do I need any special software to use the virtual journal?
You will need a recent version of Internet Explorer or other browser and the Flash Player. The full requirements are explained on the opening page of the virtual journal access, and there is a link to download the Flash Player. Please note that the virtual
journal is designed for people who have a broadband, DSL, or
T1 Internet connection. Because the file is very large, it may
take several minutes to upload with a high-speed connection and
a prohibitively long time to upload with a dial-up modem connection.
