CONTENT EDITOR, K12 Assessments, Ancillary Materials

Reporting to a Development Supervisor/Manager, this position is responsible for an area of development on a major product/project. Assists with developing test specifications and participates in all phases of item development. item selection, and test construction. Trains item writers and makes assignments based on test design and project requirements. Gives feedback and participates in development of on-site and off-site writers. Produces high-quality materials adhering to the approved development process and based on the product specifications within project timelines. Interacts with other departments in providing product support and represents products to customers (internal and external). Demonstrates an increasing knowledge of a content domain and test construction practices and procedures. May work on special projects as assigned.

Must satisfy ALL of the following REQUIREMENTS:

1. B.A./B.S Degree in English/Language Arts or equivalent
2. Six months experience in Educational Assessment at the K-12 level
3. Two years of classroom teaching experience at the K-12 level
4. Proven written and oral communication skills
5. Ability to work with diverse groups on complex projects
6. Extremely organized with a strong attention to detail
7. Ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines under pressure
8. Self-directed with the ability to develop and implement project work within deadline
9. Demonstrate knowledge/awareness of content area and apply it to assigned tasks
10. Intermediate skills in MSWord and Excel. Willingness and capacity to learn new computer programs as needed.

Content Editors must have a compelling mix of qualifications within the following areas, but are not required to possess every skill:

• Previous test publishing experience, three years a plus. Experience in a particular area of education.
• Academic training or work experience in the area of educational testing and measurement.
• Two years experience in content development as a writer and/or editor.
• Experience in a lead and/or supervisory role of a writing/editing team.
• Ability to lead diverse groups of people in challenging and complex endeavors.
• Demonstrated ability to devise methods for improving organization, accuracy, and efficiency.
• Full knowledge of a content area domain and of test construction practices and procedures.
• Experience working in a matrix organization.
• Ability to travel, sometimes for several days at a time.
