Phi Delta Kappa International, Inc., is proud to announce the publication of a special report on middle-grades research. Joan Lipsitz and Robert D. Felner served as guest editors for this report, published as a special insert in the March 1997 issue of the Phi Delta Kappan.
THE PROFESSIONAL JOURNAL FOR EDUCATION
The report summarizes data from several years of middle-grades research supported by the W. K. Kellogg Foundation, the Carnegie Corporation of New York, and Lilly Endowment Inc. The findings from this treasure trove of data on the variables that account for middle-level students' performance and achievement have been long-awaited by teachers, administrators, and curriculum directors across the nation.
The W.K. Kellogg foundation funded publication of the special report in the March issue and 20,000 additional copies of the report. That supply is already depleted.
Middle-grades educators and other interested professionals who still desire copies of the report for classes, workshops, conferences, or other nonprofit uses have the permission of the Phi Delta Kappan to make photocopies of the special 40-page report. Those who do not have a copy of the report suitable for photocopying can order one for $6 prepaid by writing to Middle-Grades Prepaid, Phi Delta Kappa, P.O. Box 789, Bloomington, IN 47402. The report is also available online and may be downloaded and photocopied for the uses listed above.
