Influencing Budget Decisions Based on Instructional Priorities

All of our training opportunities are site-specific. That is, the content is tailored to the expressed needs of the participants, and it is delivered to your site.

AUDIENCE:   Administrators

DESCRIPTION:

In this time of limited budget growth, increasing costs, and growing demands placed on K-12 systems from state and federal mandates, it is often difficult to know whether to fund an instructional program, continue with one that may be costly, or initiate new programs. This workshop will present ideas and rationale to assist curriculum, instruction, and assessment decision makers as well as budget or finance directors on ways to work together.

At the conclusion of this workshop participants will be able to:

  • Understand some of the mandates facing K-12 leaders (NCLB, state specific initiatives) and the impact on educators
  • Learn about models for curriculum development practices and procedures that may improve instructional decision making
  • Define and describe the current situation at his or her individual school or district and learn of ways to increase collaboration at the decision making level
  • Develop preliminary plans to apply instructional decision making to sound budget decisions

Our Mission:
We know, we believe, and we support that professional development is an intentional process, that it is ongoing, and that it is systemic. We know that it must be integrated within school improvement planning and it must focus on student improvement. It must be based on well-documented research, and it must be tailored to the needs of the participants and delivered to them at their site.
