Getting Results for Older Reluctant Readers

All of our training opportunities are site-specific. That is, the content is tailored to the expressed needs of the participants, and it is delivered to your site.

AUDIENCE:   Middle and High School Teachers, Principals and Curriculum Directors

DESCRIPTION:

We hear about early literacy issues on a regular basis. But what about literacy concerns for the older students? Teaching students who arrive at middle or high school and either can't or won't read is an issue many secondary teachers must face. While there is not an easy fix to this problem, this workshop presents a solution that, when tailored to the specific concerns at your site, offers steps in the right direction.

Participants will learn and practice strategies to create success among all students throughout the school day. Specific research based components necessary to reach the older, struggling reader will be shared and practiced. Attendees will receive practical strategies for immediate classroom use.

Our Mission:
We know, we believe, and we support that professional development is an intentional process, that it is ongoing, and that it is systemic. We know that it must be integrated within school improvement planning and it must focus on student improvement. It must be based on well-documented research, and it must be tailored to the needs of the participants and delivered to them at their site.
