Challenging Gifted Students Through Differentiation

All of our training opportunities are site-specific. That is, the content is tailored to the expressed needs of the participants, and it is delivered to your site.

AUDIENCE:   All Educators Grades 1- 8

DESCRIPTION:

This one-day professional development opportunity focuses on strategies to challenge children who are gifted and talented. Participants will discuss the needs (often created by the strengths) of gifted children. Making continuous progress is a priority for all children. Strategies of differentiation will allow all children, including those who are gifted and talented, to make continuous progress.

The major thrust of the professional development will address strategies to differentiate content, process, product, and assessment. Participants will take strategies and apply them to lessons they already have developed in order to match the learning experiences to the students' levels of readiness and learning preferences. Participants should bring a unit to the workshop so they can leave the session with differentiated learning experiences that are ready to use.

Our Mission:
We know, we believe, and we support that professional development is an intentional process, that it is ongoing, and that it is systemic. We know that it must be integrated within school improvement planning and it must focus on student improvement. It must be based on well-documented research, and it must be tailored to the needs of the participants and delivered to them at their site.
