Math in Motion is an interdisciplinary and manipulative-based approach to teaching mathematics. Participants will learn origami, the Japanese art of paper folding, and how to use it in their classrooms in this fun filled hands-on workshop. Discover the most current, proven, and practical ideas and strategies for using best practices to teach basic math concepts such as number sense, vocabulary, spatial relationships, fractions, geometry, measurement, problem solving, and more!
Participants will learn how to:
- connect math manipulatives across the curriculum
- organize the classroom for active participation
- foster cooperative learning activities
- increase writing through math activities
- teach cognitive tasks such as organizing, sequencing, analytical and critical thinking skills, and problem solving
